As part of a major refurbishment, Struer Klejn Smedje and Herning Vand needed to establish a new and more efficient solution for treating process air from the plant’s pump sumps. The existing setup was both space-consuming and required ongoing maintenance, creating a need for a more reliable and compact technology.

Compact and reliable hybrid filter solution for Herning Vand

The solution selected was a BioMax2500—supplied in a BM4000 cabinet—which combines biological and chemical filtration in a single, integrated unit. The solution significantly reduced the installation footprint and ensured a stable treatment process at an airflow of approximately 2,500 m³/h.

To further optimize operating conditions, a humidification system was subsequently installed to stabilize humidity levels and support the biological process.

Operation and performance

BioMax2500 has delivered reliable and documented treatment performance since its installation in 2021.

  • Average H₂S level: approx. 25 ppm

  • Peak loads measured up to 100 ppm without loss of treatment efficiency

  • Stable temperature in the range of 18–20 °C, ideal for the filter’s biological process

The filter’s ability to handle high concentrations without operational issues has been a key factor in customer satisfaction.
